
Desiree Jauregui is currently a full-time student at California State University, Sacramento pursuing a B.A. in Political Science. As a product of the California Community College system, she is a living testament of the Campaign’s success in transforming transfer as a recipient of Associate Degrees for Transfer in Political Science, Administration of Justice, and Law, Public Policy, and Society. With a deep interest in higher education policy, Desiree is passionate about advocating for the ever-changing needs of students and ensuring student voices are heard at all levels of government.
In addition to her current role at the Campaign, she has gained valuable experience through internships in the California State Assembly, where her passion for policy and advocacy work truly took shape. Previously, she also held a position at the California’s Secretary of State’s Office in the Elections Division, assisting with voter support services and promoting civic engagement. Desiree’s professional journey also includes time at the Success Center within the Foundation for California Community Colleges, where she supported similar administrative functions.
Beyond her work and studies, Desiree has been actively involved in student government and various campus extracurricular activities, like mentoring incoming political science transfer students at CSUS and participating in Lobby Corps, the advocacy branch of CSUS’ Associated Students, Inc. In her free time, Desiree enjoys spending it with her loved ones, exploring all that Sacramento has to offer, or trying a new recipe she found online.

When I am not at work helping students get to and succeed in college I am… studying, spending time with my loved ones, or trying a new recipe I found scrolling online.
If not higher education then what cause? Election administration, criminal justice advocacy, or housing affordability policy work.
