Students Speak: A survey by and for students to understand equitable placement and completion in California

Students Speak: A survey by and for students to understand equitable placement and completion in California is in partnership with Students Making A Change and Coleman Advocates. Surveying community college students in California, this publication finds important progress: less students are reporting being enrolled in remedial English and math courses and more students are aware of their rights to enroll in transfer-level courses. However, equity gaps persist: Only 15% of Black students and 14% of Latine/Latinx students responded that they were aware of their right to enroll in transfer-level courses, compared to 27% of white students and 76% of Asian students.
